1. Who this covers
This policy applies to restorationlaurel.com, our Facebook and Instagram pages, our online forms, our text messages, and our email. It covers information we collect from visitors, guests, members, volunteers, and anyone who fills out one of our forms.

2. What we collect
Information you give us directly. When you plan a visit, RSVP to an event, join a group, sign up to serve, register a child, or contact us, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, the names and ages of children you register, and anything else you choose to tell us.
Information from ads and social media. If you fill out a form inside Facebook or Instagram, Meta passes us the information you submitted, which is typically your name, email address, and phone number. We only receive what you chose to submit.
Information collected automatically on our website. Like most websites, ours records basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit, and how you arrived. We use cookies and similar technologies for this. See Section 6.
Giving information. If you give financially, we use Planning Center Giving to process your donation. We can see your name, the amount, and the date. We never see or store your full card or bank account numbers.
3. How we use it
We use your information to:
- Reply to you when you reach out
- Send you details about a service or event you asked about
- Follow up after a first visit
- Register you or your child for an event or ministry
- Keep you informed about the life of the church
- Coordinate volunteers and serve teams
- Keep records of giving for tax and accounting purposes
- Understand which of our ads and pages are working, so we spend money responsibly
- Meet legal and safety obligations
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it.
4. Text messages
If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive texts, we may send you messages about services, events you signed up for, reminders, and follow-up after a visit.
- Message frequency varies.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to any message to opt out. Reply HELP for help.
- Opting out of texts does not remove you from our other communications, and you can ask us to remove you from those separately.
We use a third-party texting service to send these messages. See Section 5.
5. Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers who help us operate the church, and only to the extent they need it to do that work. These currently include:
Provider: Planning Center / Church Center
What it does: Our people, events, check-in, and online giving
What it receives: Name, contact details, attendance, registrations, and giving records including amount and date. Not full payment card or bank account numbers.
Provider: EZ Texting
What it does: Sends our text messages
What it receives: Name and mobile number
Provider: Meta (Facebook, Instagram)
What it does: Our page and our ads
What it receives: Form submissions you make on their platforms, and website activity via the Meta Pixel
Provider: Mailchimp
What it does: Sends our email
What it receives: Name and email address
Provider: Hostinger
What it does: Hosts our website
What it receives: Technical website data such as IP address and pages visited
We may also disclose information if we are required to by law, if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to protect someone's safety, or as part of our obligations as mandatory reporters under Maryland law.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone, for any purpose.
6. Cookies, the Meta Pixel, and advertising
Our website uses cookies and a tracking tool called the Meta Pixel. The Pixel tells us, in aggregate, how many people visited our site after seeing one of our ads, and it allows us to show follow-up ads on Facebook and Instagram to people who have already visited.
What this means in plain terms: if you visit our website, you may later see an ad from us on Facebook or Instagram.
You can limit this. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. You can also adjust what Meta shows you through your Facebook Ad Preferences, and you can opt out of many advertising cookies at optout.aboutads.info.
7. Children
We care deeply about the safety of children in our care.
We collect information about children only when a parent or legal guardian provides it, such as when registering a child for our kids ministry or an event. This typically includes the child's name, age, any allergies or medical notes you tell us, and authorized pickup contacts.
We use this information solely to care for your child safely. We do not use children's information for advertising, and we never share it outside the volunteers and staff who need it to serve your child.
Our website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children online. If you believe a child has submitted information to us online, contact us and we will delete it.
8. How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you are connected to the church and for a reasonable period afterward, so we can maintain accurate records and reach out again if appropriate. Giving records are retained as long as required for tax and accounting purposes. You can ask us to delete your information sooner. See Section 9.
9. Your choices
You can, at any time:
- Ask what we have about you. Email us and we will tell you.
- Correct it if it is wrong.
- Ask us to delete it. We will, except where we are legally required to keep something, such as giving records.
- Unsubscribe from email using the link at the bottom of any email we send.
- Stop texts by replying STOP.
Email temi@restorationlaurel.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. We will not treat you differently for asking.
10. How we protect it
We use reputable service providers, limit access to the people who need it, and require confidentiality from staff and volunteers who handle personal information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take this seriously.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we will tell you.
